Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: This is the place where to be in Ella. Amazing chalet, with amazing view. The room is spacious and extremely clean. The furnishing is just lovely, like the mountain chalet of your dreams. The host is a great person, who helps you with travel arrangements, tuk tuk free rides down to the main street, and much more. He offered me a couple of delicious juices. The breakfast is absolutely amazing and so abundant! I also had lot of flexibility on my check out, as he allowed me to go for trekking in the early morning after breakfast and come back for a shower before leaving the place. This is by far the best place where I have slept in Sri Lanka.

Negative: Only issue is that the road to the chalet is very steep (max 45% slope in some stretches) and no asphalt. I was alone with light wheeled luggage and in good physical shape, but if you have to walk up with kids or heavy luggage it can be annoying. My driver refused to bring me up there, for instance. In the night, also the tuk tuk driver refused to reach uphill and left me halfway. If the host is awake, he will offer free pick up at the main road.
