Summary: The Nangu experience was certainly an experience… I would love to say we loved our stay, since the views are beautiful, but things went a little sideways. We arrived to find the hot tub as more of a bath tub. We began to fill it ourselves & water did not get hot. Usually I’m not one to be picky here, but we did pay extra so we could get the room with the hot tub. Especially since we were looking forward to relaxing at the end of our trip here.
I would have overlooked this, but soon after arrival, power went out. I understand these kinds of things may sometimes be out of the hosts’ control.. but we really needed to have power since we chose glamping for the sake of having power to charge our phones to drive back to SJO the next day. Then, annoyingly, power proceeded to turn on & off for basically the rest of the night. We had no cell service of course because of the extremely remote location - which was definitely a scary in case of emergency. We debated leaving to get a place in town, but it is so dark out it would’ve been hard to drive. We messaged the host, but of course, it did not go through until the next AM since we had no service.
One of the exterior doors also did not close all the way, so was banging around & we had to tie it down using a jacket. The solar lights also kept going on & off the whole night. This was not worth the high price tag. Especially considering how difficult it is to get there. Sorry to say but there are other glamping locations to choose from.

Summary: The very first thing to note is that a 4x4 high-clearance vehicle is absolutely required to get to the place. The road, especially the last mile or so was rough, including crossing a shallow fast-flowing river. The host was good about communicating the best route (dont use Google).
But when you do get there, the view, high up in the mountains above the treetops, is just specular and awe inspiring! Very secluded, except for the other domed unit which is visible in the meadow below, but not close by.
The domed itself is nicely appointed with a decent kitchenette, plates, cutlery and hot plate, and a cool outdoor trampoline. But the domed structure does not appear to be air-tight, and the interior had dozens of insects and mosquitoes when we came indoors after trying the jacuzzi. The door to the dome didnt latch properly, which probably did not help the insect situation.
The hot tub is basically non functional. We were surprised to see such a large tub (4 person), which took a long time to fill. The water was luke warm, which was not fun. Looking at the eco-friendly solar thermal hot water system, its obvious that it cannot provide anywhere near enough hot water for such a large tub.

Summary: This a unique experience. Staff was very helpful and their breakfast which we had one morning was delicious. We even managed to get Italian food delivered (easier with USD cash). The view is unbelievable and we definitely enjoyed as a family with 2 teenagers. Note that like all roads in Costa Rica, always better with a 4WD car. We had a simple 4x4 SUV and we had no issue driving (slowly) the 1.5km or so to get to the property even under set season rain. Again, great experience if you are looking for quiet and nature in a very comfortable setting.
