We completely renovated this Victorian Cottage on Watchic Lake, Standish, Maine, to preserve the cottage experience while still enjoying modern conveniences. We provide all the amentities, so you don't have to worry about bringing them.
Watchic Lake is a very clean, spring fed lake, with plenty of wildlife to enjoy. Enjoy kayaking and canoeing, loon watching, eating a traditional Maine lobster feed, or just reading a book in the hammock by the Lake. The cottage is in a great location, and is the last house on a private road.

Less than a half hours drive you can visit the Old Port on Portland’s waterfront for great shopping, music, theaters and some of the best restaurants in all of Maine. You can even catch a movie at a nearby drive in theater. There is easy access to the Ocean (Old Orchard Beach, Funtown, Splashtown), the White Mountains of New Hampshire, great shopping areas, and LL Bean in Freeport. Plan to shop at nearby farms for fresh vegetables and fruit. Take the family to pick fresh strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and apples at several farms in the area. Enjoy the peaceful seclusion of this relaxing and clean year round cottage, 40 feet from the waters edge, with local supermarkets, restaurants, and lots of fun shopping at antique shops, art and craft galleries, clothing and gift shops. All within 10 minutes of the lake. Golf driving Range within walking distance.
Join us for my favorite time of year, Fall Foliage Season. A great time to attend the many Apple festivals, Fryeburg and Cumberland Fairs, and other harvest celebrations while surrounded by the magical Maine foliage colors. Maine is the most heavily forested state in our nation. Maine's fantastic fall foliage is unique because of the wide variety of species, totaling over 50 native types.
The cottage features a large full kitchen with open dining area. There is “pass through” window access to adjacent custom designed bar area that overlooks the lake. The living room is large with a gas fireplace, and there is a sitting room which overlooks the lake that can also serve as a fourth bedroom. This cottage has lots of large windows with great views of the lake.
OUTSIDE FEATURES:
Both sun and shade areas. Large private lawn area, Parking area for 4 cars, dock, Deck, Gas Grill, Picnic table, 4 Adirondack chairs, Chaise Lounge chairs, Life preservers, canoe, 2 kayaks, fire pit , and horse shoes.
BEACH AREA:
100 feet of private waterfront including a 20 foot dock. Rocky beach out to sand bottom– 3 stairs to water— retaining wall—clear water-(there is no marshy, grassy, slimy stuff)—gradual drop-off. There is a large public sand beach on the other side of the lake, accessible by boat or car.
