Positive: We had a wonderful 3-night stay here! The host was incredibly kind and welcoming – they organized scooter hire for us in just 15 minutes and the laundry service was quick and reliable. Breakfast was a real highlight: it changed every morning with tasty local options, and the fresh fruit juices were perfect after surfing. We loved trying different Sri Lankan flavors each day. The location is great – a peaceful retreat away from the main crowds, but still easy to get around with the scooter we rented. Hiriketiya Beach (Hiri) is ideal for beginners like us: mellow waves, sandy bottom, and perfect for building confidence. We stayed just the right amount of time – 3 nights felt spot-on; any longer and we might have felt a bit bored. Only downside is how crowded the surf spot gets, but that’s common here. Overall, highly recommend for beginner surfers wanting a relaxed, friendly vibe!

Negative: Make sure to wear some mozzie repellant when it gets dark and ensure you close doors/windows. We had the windows open one night and got eaten alive during the night as they got through the net
