Positive: A Hidden Gem for a Relaxing Holiday – The White Gate Lodge, Weligama I stayed at The White Gate Lodge in Weligama this September, and I ended up extending my stay because I just didn’t want to leave – that’s how good it was! The location is ideal for anyone looking to relax and unwind. It’s just a quick hop across the road to "Wild Beach", one of the most peaceful and beautiful beaches in the area. Plus, it’s close to Ahangama town, Matara, and not too far from the must-visit city of Galle. Despite being so central, the lodge is tucked away in a quiet spot, perfect for enjoying some true tranquillity. I stayed in Tharu & Dinesh’s stunning family home, and it was a genuinely lovely experience. The house is clean, beautifully maintained, and equipped with everything you’d need for a comfortable stay. My room was spacious, cozy, and had a nice view. What really makes this place special are the hosts and their hospitality. Tharu and Dinesh are warm, friendly, and incredibly attentive – they made sure everything was perfect throughout my stay. I also have to highlight the breakfast – it was absolutely delicious, beautifully presented, and thoughtfully prepared each morning. The care they put into the food and service really stood out. Whether you're a solo traveller, a couple, or a family, I can’t recommend The White Gate Lodge enough. It’s the perfect place to relax, enjoy nature, eat well, and be truly looked after. I’m already looking forward to my next stay!
